About Penn Station New York
New York Penn Station is NJ Transit’s busiest hub, connecting to the vast NJ Transit rail system via only 2 tracks below the Hudson River. This limitation is often worsened in the evening by maintenance bringing the connection down to a single track in and out of New York. To fix this, two additional tracks are being built in a new tunnel, but this is only expected to be completed by 2035, if there are no construction delays.
New York Penn Station is owned by Amtrak and served by the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Morris & Essex lines, with PATH trains nearby and all the buses of the Port Authority Bus Terminal a 15 minute walk away. Some Gladstone Branch and Raritan Valley Line trains run here too.
